TYPROS Urbanists: Street Painting - Placemaking Tool or Safety Hazard?

Street painting can take many forms, from extensive murals spanning a road or an intersection, to decorative crosswalks, to colorful bike lanes. Many cities have used the medium to great effect, despite the fact that federal guidelines outlaw the practice. Our panelists will weigh in on the various merits and risks associated with street painting, and discuss the future of the medium in Tulsa.

This event will be a Zoom webinar streamed to Facebook Live via TYPROS Urbanist Crew Page and will be available for there for viewing afterwards.

Panelists:

Councilor, Kara Joy McKee, District 4

Councilor Vanessa Hall-Harper, District 1

Holly Becker, Tulsa Arts Commission

Vicki Davis, Main Street Yukon

Natalie Beurlot, Main Street Enid

Terry Ball, City of Tulsa Engineering

NOTE: Though this conversation was predicated by the BLM mural painted in Greenwood over the summer, the self-evident message that Black Lives Matter will not be a matter of debate during this event.
