When no area of Tulsa is neglected, the entire city benefits

What is Street Cred?

Street Cred is a community redevelopment project conceived by Tulsa's Young Professionals in 2011. The concept highlights a neighborhood or area of Tulsa that has great potential for commercial and residential development, with active citizens dedicated to the area's city planning and other needs. The neighborhoods chosen generally need some attention in the way of cleaning, awareness and focus on specific community needs.

In 2016, Street Cred: 66 is all about multimodal transportation. New to this year’s event, TYPros will work with the City of Tulsa to close the two outermost lanes of 11th Street between Delaware and Peoria for the week leading up to the annual Saturday event in order to demonstrate a number of multimodal transit options. These temporary simulations of existing transportation plans awaiting implementation include the east-west Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) line and bike lanes called for by the GO Plan.

In addition to transportation programming, Street Cred: 66 will incorporate a number of other Mother Road motifs, including a car show and Route 66 museum.

When and where will Street Cred take place?

Street Cred: 66 will take place on Route 66 (11th street) between Delaware and Lewis on April 30th from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

How can you get involved?

Help us make Street Cred: 66 our best community redevelopment event yet by volunteering for one of two shifts at the event. Once you register to volunteer by clicking here, our volunteer coordinator will be in touch with shift details and project logistics.

Do you have a business on 11th street between Delaware and Peoria and want to get involved?

We hope to showcase local businesses on April 30th in many different ways. We welcome you to have a booth or “pop-up shop” at the event itself, and we also can arrange to have volunteers help with clean-up or beautification projects at your business in the weeks leading up the event.
