Letter from your 2018 TYPros Chair

I still remember the first time I attended a TYPros event five years ago. Knowing no one there, I was nervous and scared. Little did I know then, TYPros would give me so many experiences to help me grow personally and professionally. All it took was the willingness
to say yes and to seize those opportunities.

In those five years, I have formed dear friendships, acquired mentors and learned invaluable life lessons in leadership and organization. But most importantly, I have seen, first-hand, the fruition of Margaret Mead’s famous quote: “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed people can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”

TYPros is multifaceted. At its surface, TYPros offers people the chance to build their network and explore the coolest attractions our great city has to offer. For those who dive a little deeper, TYPros can be a powerful catalyst for personal and professional development. It also provides many opportunities to give back to the community. Whether you apply to serve as a TYPros intern on a local non-profit board, or you attend some of the high-quality professional development workshops offered by our crews, you are bound to expand your knowledge and skills in areas which will greatly benefit your life.

TYPros can be a platform to pursue your wild ideas to make Tulsa awesome. Get more involved by volunteering for initiatives under one of TYPros’ eight Crews, which help us achieve our mission of attracting and retaining young, creative talent, developing the next generation of leaders, and enhancing Tulsa’s sense of place.

The key is that YOU have the ability to get as much out of TYPros as you want. If you are interested in expanding your network and discovering everything Tulsa has to offer, then I hope you will join this energetic and passionate group of individuals. If you are interested in getting more involved, I invite you to reach out to one of the Crew Leaders, or myself, and ask how you can help make our city and region better for generations to come!

Hope to see you soon!
